Gingerhaze’s AWESOME Avengers Illustrations
So Avengers is a pretty popular movie, what with all the explosions, heros, and smashing. It seems that illustrator Gingerhaze aka Noelle Stevenson is a fan because she has created an incredible series of Avengers illustrations.
Check out more of her work on her site, she is incredibly talented and i’m excited to see more of her work.

Cristiana Couceiro
Check out the awesome collage illustrations of Cristiana Couceiro. They have a very cool retro feel and her use of icons and bold shapes really compliments the photography. Her illustrations have a graphic simplicity and impact that can be lost in more complicated collage style. I’m a fan!

Mad Men Issue of Newsweek
For the launch of Mad Men Season 5, Newsweek has retro-fied this week’s issue with vintage ads. I think this is a very fun concept for the issue that shows off the charm and naivety of vintage ads. My favourites are Benetton, Mercedes, and Hush Puppies.

Sabadi Chocolate
I am really into the package design for Sabadi Chocolate. Everything is working well together: the fun and vibrant colours, the light airy feeling of the packaging, and the simple type create a very nostalgic and personal emotion. The vintage illustrations are perfect, reminding me of some kind of old school Mr. Men series.

Disney princesses meet their untimely demises in this very interesting series from photographer Thomas Czarnecki.

A very nice site for Salt Surfboards, handmade surf and skateboards from NYC. The use of large photography and clean type create a very simple and elegant solution for the boutique shop. In a period where Parallax sites are popping up like the plague ( I don’t actually have a problem with Parallax, but it seems the technology is being used whether it’s a good solution or not), this sort of simple and unassumingly nice website is pretty refreshing.

Watchmen 2
Potentially awesome? I’m holding my breadth a little on this one, but with work from incredible artists such as Darwyn Cooke, the “Before Watchmen” series could be great!

The Dream Factory
The Dream Factory is an organization that fulfills once-in-a-lifetime dreams of children in Manitoba facing life threatening illnesses (think Make A Wish Foundation, but focused on Manitoba).
Formerly known as The Rainbow Society, the Dream Factory recently unveiled their new identity. The new logo is fun and cheerful, and perfectly suits the organization. I think families, and especially the kids, will really love the playfulness of this logo.
Check out the full review on Brand New, which also features a nice process video.

The Soul Reaper Scroll Book: Episode 1
Saizen Media has created an incredible take on the digital comic book. The HTML5 scrolling page does a great job of adding life and motion to online comics. Though the first episode only has a few panels that make good use of the technology (helicopter flying by and eyes), there is so much potential here for what can be done.
I’m excited to see further episodes and what else will be done with HTML5 for digital comics.
Check out the comic.
